Inspirational Women Leaders & Their Success Stories

Leadership is ideally a gender-agnostic function, however, age-old cultural and systemic biases have lent a masculine tinge to the word leadership. However, time has changed and so has the prevalence of women in leadership roles. the corporate world has been undergoing a paradigm shift with a focus on improving gender balance in leadership positions.

Women bring unique perspectives to decision-making tables and bring benefits that go beyond improvement in business revenues.

This month’s special edition of Women Entrepreneurs Review magazine highlights the stories of a few such inspiring women leaders from across India. From the city of Bangalore, is Shabana Gulrays Rangwala, a versatile creative professional and Partner at Studio Sabr, an interior design and fit-out firm. Her career spans fashion design, television production, Bollywood film marketing, and brand solutions for major TV channels.

We also feature an interaction with a seasoned UX strategist and certified usability analyst, Mathuram Nallathambi blends creativity and business acumen to lead Ambian Strategy, driving innovative, user-centered design solutions for startups and growing companies.

Currently leading Baarno as Founder and CEO, Swati Shekhawat combines her corporate experience with a personal passion for Indian craftsmanship. Baarno focuses on elevating the art of hand block printing while building a purpose-led brand that supports rural artisans and sustainable living.

We also talk about Smitha Chandrashekar, Legal Director, Harman International. She is a seasoned General Counsel with over 20 years of experience in the Asia-Pacific region, specializing in compliance, contracting, employment, privacy, intellectual property, and real estate management, with a strong focus on the Indian subcontinent and global legal operations. Beyond her corporate legal expertise, Smitha is deeply committed to pro bono initiatives. She is a frequent speaker and moderator at industry forums and serves as the Regional Liaison for Asia-Pacific within the International Legal Affairs Network (ILAN) at the Association of Corporate Counsels (ACC).
