Founded in 1958, IIT B is one of the most sought after IITs in the country today. It was in 1961 when the Indian Parliament recognized the IITs as ‘Institutes of National Importance'. Since then, the institute has helped nurture some of the most prolific technical minds of the country.

The institutes’ alumni have distinguished themselves through their achievements and contributions to industry, academics, research, business, government and social domains.
