Women Founders Share their Inspiration behind Taking the Entrepreneurial Plunge

Ankita Mittal, CEO, Enhanced Innovations

Entrepreneurship is a dream for many, but few possess the necessary skills and gumption to make it a reality. What inspired you to pursue your entrepreneurial dream?

My entrepreneurial dreams started while I was quite young but somehow no idea that I had felt compelling enough to take the plunge. What pushed me to finally turn into an entrepreneur, was the problem we wanted to solve through our startup, Enhanced Innovations. While contemplating entrepreneurship, I observed first-hand the grass-root level challenges faced by both healthcare providers and patients across India – this cemented my belief in the idea that led to Enhanced Innovations. Last-mile healthcare delivery is an urgent need and goes beyond just our bottom line. The vision of potentially impacting and helping millions of people is what prompted my foray into entrepreneurship – where our success means much more than money in the bank to us.

The Indian startup ecosystem is thriving, but perfection is still a work in progress. What is one change you would suggest in the immediate future?

From the viewpoint of a woman entrepreneur, I would like to see more women-entrepreneur-centric business forums. Some networks are doing this but not at scale. Sometimes women entrepreneurs may feel like outsiders in a gathering where they are the minority. Given the unique challenges that women entrepreneurs overcome to begin their entrepreneurial journey and stay on it, it becomes important for them to have a space where they can talk to others who may have similar journeys.  Platforms that can provide virtual and in-person interactions for women entrepreneurs to network, collaborate, and derive strength from, may prove to be a game-changer for women entrepreneurs in the country.
