Dahaad is a scintillating Hindi thriller that outlines a bold and nerve wracking crime investigation with social commentary. A female-led narrative, Sonakshi Sinha plays the protagonist as sub-inspector Anjali Bhaati, who is determined to navigate a complex case of a serial killer who targets vulnerable rural women in Rajasthan. The drama is balanced well on grit, determination, and depth of the characters that portray realistic yet gripping performances. The killer targets single women from marginalized communities, murdering them, eventually stagingthem as suicides.

Currently available on Amazon Prime Video, the bold drama has eight parts to it. The series is also coined as Sonakshi Sinha’s web series debut.

Issues Tackled

This suspense-laden drama unfolds the issues such as social evil and casteism, patriarchy and misogyny, gender bias thrown in the face of small-town realism. The writer’s team consists of Reema Kagti, Zoya Akhtar, Ritesh Shah, Chaitanya Chopra, Sunayana Kumari, Mansi Jain, Karan Shah, with Sumit Arora being credited for dialogue writing. This hard hitting crime thriller is directed by Reema Kagti and Ruchika Obero.
