Rooted in a conventional Indian family, Chiraiya (a bird in Hindi) is a story where Kamlesh (Divya Dutta) walks the path of life and manages her role as wife, daughter-in-law, and mother with purpose and resolve fighting patriarchy. The household humdrum revolves around when a new bride’s arrival shatters the household’s routine, unsettling the stability. A harmonious family unit is thrown into turmoil when her brother-in-law Arun (Siddharth Shaw) marries Pooja (Prasanna Bisht). The story takes a harrowing turn on their wedding night when Arun violates Pooja’s consent, setting the unexplainable platform for the ensuring struggle. The drama has powerful performances by Sanjay Mishra, Prasanna Bisht, Faisal Rashid. 

Issue Tackled

The web series is streaming on JioHotsar and has six episodes in all. It revolves around the themes of marriage, consent exploring relationships and a woman’s struggle around the family dynamics. Interestingly, each episode has been uniquely named to demonstrate its content, increasing its reliability factor. They are "Griha Pravesh," "Pag Phera," "Honeymoon," "Muh Dikhai," "Vidaai," and "Kathaa. The series is directed by Shashant Shah and its writer is Divy Nidhi Sharma.
