Safeena Husain, Founder, Educate Girls

Safeena Husain, the creator of Educate Girls, is working on bridging gender gaps in rural education by means of a scalable, community-based model. Her non-profit finds girls not attending school, gets them enrolled, and raises their basic literacy and numeracy levels. Though she is active in some of the most deprived parts of India, her work mainly focuses on measurable results and sustainable development.

Through recruiting local volunteers and collaborating with government schools, she has played a part in bringing a large number of children back to their desks. By her work, she proves that well-planned interventions combined with grassroots mobilization can greatly enhance girls' access to quality education all over India.
