Determination is often born in the quietest trials of life. This exemplifies the journey of Posimind Consulting’s Managing Partner, Trupti Nanal, the powerhouse of HR leadership. From being a simple village girl from rural Maharashtra to establishing a globally trusted HR consulting firm, Trupti’s story is testament to her conviction and character.

Despite facing trials and tribulations, she continued to walk straight towards her dreams. Early on, she faced rejection for a job owing to her rural accent and limited English, but Trupti remained undeterred. She went on to do odd jobs such as door-to-door selling Banking products, packaging for vegetables, handling car sales etc., learning invaluable business lessons from each experience. Entering the headhunting world, she arrived at her life’s turning point where she discovered not just a profession, but her calling.

Armed with over two decades of experience, Trupti has cultivated a niche for herself within executive search and talent strategy. Operating purely on word-of-mouth and client trust, her work speaks volumes. She has placed toptier leadership across global corporations, including roles in the U.S., Indonesia and Middle East.

Driven by an entrepreneurial spark, she founded Posimind Consulting, a technology-driven, innovative Executive Search and Headhunting firm in 2004. Possessing a structured leadership style, Trupti has built a team of seasoned professionals who lead through accountability and responsibility.

What makes Trupti’s journey even more remarkable is her unwavering commitment to her roots. A new training vertical, offering free professional development for school children in her village, is her way of giving back and building future entrepreneurs from small towns like the one she came from.

What key moments shaped your journey and how did IIM Ahmedabad influence you?

Completing my MBA in HR and Marketing, I began my career. I also did an HR Auditor course from IIM Ahmedabad, which gave me the privilege of becoming an IIM Ahmedabad alumna. From IIM, I learned how to assess opportunities, read situations clearly, and tackle challenges effectively, especially in HR, where decisionmaking is critical.

Expanding my office to Singapore was a significant leap for me. Another turning point was when I began acquiring clients purely through word of mouth. I have never used any formal marketing tools in these 23 years in the business.

One of the most defining moments of my life was when I interviewed for a receptionist's role at an educational institution’s franchise. Coming from a small, traditional Marathi village, my attire and language skills didn’t align with their expectations. As a result, I was rejected. However, by 2014, I worked on myself and got the opportunity to work directly for a reputed educational institution in the U.S., recruiting for senior-level positions.

I'm a professional Headhunter, constantly seeking new things and always in a learning Phase

Briefly share your journey as an HR leader and the key areas you've specialized in over the years?

Prior to starting my career as a recruiter, I did several odd jobs, including selling vegetables, packing bags, and even home-cooked food. Later, I worked as a sales in-charge at a car dealership. That’s when I realized I’m a people’s person.

A close friend introduced me to a headhunter in Pune, where I met my mentor, Dilip Amolic. As a head hunter, I’ve worked for an industry leader in American automotive industry, the President of an international Bank, and senior/Management leaders at companies in Real Estate, Pharma, IT, ITES PAN India & overseas.

Later, I started an HR services vertical. We now work with a range of clients, from startups to Fortune 500 companies. Our services extend beyond India, we’ve helped companies in Dubai as well.

What inspired you to start Posimind Consulting?

Initially, I had the opportunity to work alongside a close friend in the executive search space. Eventually, I decided to take the leap and start my own venture. I believed that even if it didn’t work out, I could always return to employment but I had to give myself a chance.

That’s how Posimind Consulting were conceptualized. It’s a venture I run independently, with my daughter as a symbolic one percent partner, and I manage the entire operation.

What are the company’s core focus areas? How do you ensure Posimind Consulting's growth?

We operate across three verticals. The first is executive search and headhunting. The second is HR services. The third is “Repose”, which focuses on repositioning companies. We place a virtual CEO or CEO, run the company for two years, and then hand it back to the owner.

When I decided to expand, the first step was to bring expert leaders on board for each vertical. We now have an ex-General Manager from Multinational Crane Company heading Repose, and a seasoned HR professional with 35 years of experience at Fortune 500 companies leading our HR services.

I placed the right people in the right positions and gave them the autonomy to operate independently. This approach extends across the company, even our interns have the liberty to make decisions at their level. Of course, they’re also accountable for those decisions, which helps build responsibility.

What key challenges did you encounter initially and how did you overcome them?

Trust was a core challenge I faced at the beginning. Some companies doubted my capability because of my gender. But once they saw my commitment, depth of knowledge, and passion for what I do, that trust started building.

Balancing work and family has been challenging as well, but I’ve never compromised on either.

Over the years, I have held on to three core values, namely commitment, knowledge, and passion.

What’s your core leadership philosophy and success mantra?

I’m someone who is never satisfied with settling. People might think I should slow down and be content. While I’m deeply grateful for everything I’ve earned, I’m always looking for something new to build or improve. I believe in constantly moving forward.

My success mantra is simple, which says the company grows when the people grow. When your team feels like it's their own organization, that’s when real success happens.
