Noor Mubarak Boresly: A Dynamic Leader With Extensive Experience In The Medical Sector
Noor Mubarak Boresly
Executive Chairman, Medesign Healthcare
The industry of medical supplies is anticipated to grow at a CAGR of 3.4 percent from 2022 to 2027, when it is expected to reach $163.5 billion from $138.4billion. The expanding need for medical equipment, the increasing prevalence of ICU beds in hospitals and operating tools, the rising number of accidents and trauma cases, and the rising demand for infection control methods to limit healthcare associated infections are all contributing factors to the market's growth. Realizing the lack of locally produced medical supplies, Noor Mubarak Boresly, an independent, dynamic, and brilliant individual, set on the venture to establish her own organization which would pro-duce medical supplies locally for the Kuwaiti Healthcare sector.
Here are some highlights from our interaction with Noor Boresly.
Tell us about your company Medesign Healthcare Supplier in brief, and also your expertise as an intra-preneur that you want us to talk about in this article?
The notion to build a factory first surfaced in 2018, in keeping with Kuwait's goal to assist the private sector and finance MSMEs inside, ensuring robust production of private projects owned by Kuwaitis. Lack of a local industrial factory generating medical products other than pharmaceuticals was the inspiration behind the establishment of this facility. The business began with three goods and had a soft opening in February 2020. Today, it offers over 10 products, with many more in development. The project's primary goal is to guarantee a local supply of the consumables required in the medical industry.
Take us through your early educational journey and cross-functional & diverse industry experience that you bring to the table.
I finished with a biomedical engineering bachelor's degree. I returned to Kuwait in 2003 after obtaining my US certification. I started out as a sales engineer for a private company, rose through the ranks, and in 2007 was selected to be the assistant CEO. 2008 saw the completion of my MBA master's degree. The newest female CEO was me. I remained employed there till 2011. After that, I worked as a medical director for Medesign Healthcare from 2012 to 2013. I later attained the position of deputy managing director, where I stayed until I was appointed chief operations officer in 2017. I eventually took the leap and launched Medesign Healthcare Supplies.
What are the various responsibilities you shoulder as the Executive Chairman of Medesign Healthcare Supplies Healthcare? What are your primary focus areas in terms of leading the company?
As an entrepreneur, you do everything yourself starting with procuring licenses. Opening your own venture requires a lot of documentation which needs to be impeccably done. With the support of my family, friends, and strong network established over the years, I was able to expedite the process. Teamwork, delegation, expertise and dedication are crucial to maintain a smooth flow of work and adherence to the timeline.
“With the support of my family, friends, and strong network established over the years, i was able to expedite the process”
What are some of the most significant mile-stones that you have achieved throughout your professional journey? What has been the driving force behind your success as a business leader?
One of the first milestones was establishing the medical project unit in my first organization back in 2006. To meet the company targets, this unit was to be designed with specific agendas and it was a great experience. The next was in 2008 when I was nominated to be the assistant CEO resulting from my successes. Most significantly, starting my own company is the biggest milestone I have accomplished.
Drawing from your experience as a business leader, what would your advice be to young women and girls who also aspire to become business leaders and entrepreneurs in the future?
My advice would be to set up your dreams and objectives and start at the earliest. Develop yourself, expand your network, evaluate your successes, develop the strength to get out of the public sector if you are there simply for job security. Do what you dream of and what you like. A project which is your own will give you a different level of satisfaction when it succeeds. Your achievements will be yours alone. Don't let the challenges stop you or break you. Get back up and face the challenges head-on.
