In every field, from education to fashion, and IT to politics, women have consistently demonstrated their immense potential. The real estate industry, traditionally dominated by men, has also begun to see a rising number of women breaking barriers and making their mark in boardrooms. Although still few, these women bring a unique perspective and serve as powerful inspirations. Among these trailblazing women is Kanchi Thakkar, Co-Founder of Terravesta.

Her foray into real estate began in the Gurgaon and Delhi NCR markets, where she gained substantial exposure to the industry. During this time, she explored opportunities in Goa, which eventually led to the formation of Terravesta. It is a collaborative endeavor with her partner, Amit Goel, who brings over 15 years of experience in real estate. Terravesta specializes in high-quality residential projects, including land investments, villa construction, and bespoke interior design. Her second venture Toffease is focused on developing herbal healthcare solutions specifically curated for women, using Ayurveda.

Women Entrepreneur Review is thrilled to feature an exclusive conversation with her.

What inspired you to co-found Terravesta? What was the underlying idea behind starting this venture, and what sets it apart from other organizations?

Unlike traditional real estate firms, we sought to create a company that prioritized ethics and transparency from the very beginning. Our goal was to challenge preconceived notions, particularly the skepticism often directed at young professionals entering an industry dominated by seasoned veterans.

From the outset, we wanted to build Terravesta on principles of trust, professionalism, and efficiency. We’ve assembled a team of highly qualified and capable individuals to ensure the entire process of buying and selling real estate is seamless for our clients. What truly sets us apart is our commitment to ethics and our ability to deliver beyond what we promise.

This is not just a marketing statement, it’s a practice we uphold. By exceeding expectations and offering more value than what is initially agreed upon, we’ve cultivated strong, lasting relationships with our clients and investors. At Terravesta, we are dedicated to doing things differently, ensuring a streamlined, transparent, and client-centric approach that has earned us loyalty and respect in the market.

Could you share more about the vision behind Toffease and its products?

Toffease has been a deeply personal journey for me, rooted in my own experiences and a desire to provide women with effective, natural, and enjoyable solutions for common health challenges. The idea began when I was struggling with period pain myself and realized the need for a more accessible and appealing remedy. I wanted to create something that not only alleviated discomfort but was also tasty and therapeutic.

My success mantra has always been to believe in yourself, no matter what. It's crucial not to let anyone take away the faith you have in your abilities

Inspired by traditional Ayurvedic practices passed down through generations in my family, I developed Chumyum, a herbal candy designed to address menstrual cramps, PMS, mood swings, bloating, and even acne. Growing up, I heard stories of my great-grandmother preparing Ayurvedic remedies for women in her community. That legacy inspired me to integrate these age-old solutions into modern, convenient products.

As someone without a medical background, I collaborated with experienced medical professionals to formulate Chumyum and other offerings, ensuring their effectiveness and safety. Our approach combines the wisdom of Ayurveda with the convenience and appeal of a modern candy, making it a healthier alternative to pills and synthetic medicines.

We have also developed Mumyum for menopause support, Livyum to strengthen the liver, and several other functional candies. In addition to these products, we’re expanding into Ayurvedic skincare and wellness products, including oils and cosmetics. Every offering is designed to provide pure, natural solutions to everyday challenges faced by women, staying true to our mission of enhancing their overall well-being.

Could you share some of the obstacles you've encountered and the steps you’ve taken to overcome them?

Honestly, entrepreneurship is a continuous battle, and as a woman, it often feels even more difficult. When I first started, societal and family pressures were among my biggest challenges. Being single and focused on building my business wasn’t easily accepted by those around me. There was an expectation to “settle down”, which often overshadowed my ambitions.

To address these challenges, I made the decision to fund my startup independently. This marked the beginning of my journey, juggling work and my business plan. I realized that, as a woman, I had to prove myself every single day. This constant need to demonstrate capability requires immense inner strength.

Unlike men, women often need validation both at home and in society to have their voices heard. Over time, the journey evolves. While the societal pressures and doubts never completely disappear, they begin to fade into the background as your focus shifts. The challenges I faced early on now seem smaller in comparison to the responsibilities I carry today. My team has grown, and with it, the lives of many families now rely on the success of this business.

I firmly believe that challenges don’t end, they transform. The key is to remember why you started, hold onto your purpose, and stay focused on your goals. Every small victory adds up, and with time, the battle becomes less about fighting societal norms and more about building something meaningful and impactful.

What has been your success mantra over the years?

My success mantra has always been to believe in yourself, no matter what. It's crucial not to let anyone take away the faith you have in your abilities. If your intentions are pure and you stay focused on your goals, anything is possible. With determination and the right mindset, you can achieve everything you set out to do.
