How did your Alma Mater, Symbiosis International University impact your growth? What core values did the educational institution instil in you?

I earned my BBA from Symbiosis International University, transitioning from an initial interest in medicine due to my discomfort with clinical work. The program provided me with essential business fundamentals and exposure to international business practices. Leveraging this foundation, I secured admission to Trinity College Dublin for my master’s which subsequently opened the door to my role at Accenture Ireland.

Symbiosis International University taught me the importance of empathetic management and fostering a positive work environment, reflecting how global companies engage their teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations. These principles have since guided me in establishing and managing my own enterprise with a strong, cohesive team.

Take us through your diverse professional journey and the most crucial turning points?

My career began in recruitment with Accenture Ireland, followed by a role as a market analyst for Facebook Ireland. The real inflection point was my decision to exit the corporate space and build a venture aligned with my personal vision and values. At Eye7 Opticals, we prioritize fitting accuracy because it directly impacts visual performance, a critical detail many competitors fail to address.

My professional path took a significant turn when I founded 7 Sight Foundation in 2020. However, the most transformative point came in 2023 with the launch of Eye7 Opticals, marking a major a step in building a scalable, impact-driven business in the optical space. Our myopia control offerings include contact lenses and specialized paediatric lenses designed to halt the progression of myopia. Leaving a secure job to build a business was a bold decision, but it proved transformative and gave my professional journey meaningful impact.

What inspired you to foray into the field of optical? Introduce us to Eye7 Eye Hospitals.

Influenced by a family deeply rooted in eye care, I always had an affinity for the medicals space. While I moved away from becoming a doctor and pursuing medicine directly, I followed a business path with a long-term goal contributing meaningfully. After gaining industry exposure and realizing my corporate role lacked social impact, I shifted focus to build a healthcare venture aligned with both passion and purpose. I noticed a significant lack of quality and accuracy in eyewear, from poor lenses and incorrect prescriptions to improper fittings. With my background in healthcare, I saw an opportunity to bring precision and reliability to the optical space.

My father’s legacy in ophthalmology through Eye7 Hospitals inspired me to create Eye7 Opticals, an entirely separate company with a distinct vision. While the hospital specializes in advanced eye treatments, my goal was to independently address quality gaps in the optical space.

What roles and responsibilities do you shoulder as the Managing Director (Optical), Eye7 Eye Hospitals?

As Managing Director since our 2023 launch, I oversee all business functions-from supply chain, staffing, and vendor management to customer service, software implementation, and revenue strategy. I am also responsible for store design and ensuring timely, high-quality service delivery. Innovation drives our approach at Eye7 Opticals. Tools like VisuFit and VisuCore allow us to deliver superior accuracy in frame fitting and vision correction, ensuring a highly personalized and clinically precise customer experience. We focus on precision-crafted eyewear and top-tier service to create a memorable patient experience.

What challenges do you encounter in your current role? How do you successfully navigate through these roadblocks?

One of the most pressing challenges in the optical sector is its lack of organization. Consumers often lack awareness of the difference between average and premium frames or lenses, and there is limited understanding of lens types and coating. Widespread misinformation and persistent myths further add on to challenges in delivering quality and transparency. Another challenge is the assumption that eyewear is one-size-fits-all. Customers often overlook the importance of detailed eye measurements, which compromises both fit and function, undermining the quality of the final product.

Despite rising cases of childhood myopia, many parents fail to understand the long-term implications. We are committed to educating our client using clear, visual comparisons that highlight the difference between average and high-end optical solutions.

What has been your guiding leadership philosophy? What is your ‘success mantra’?

One of the most valuable lessons I have learned is that readiness is often a by-product of starting, not a prerequisite. At the inception of my business, I lacked technical expertise, yet I moved forward with my own doubts and conviction. If I had waited for full confidence or formal knowledge, I would have never made progress.

I believe in taking initiative with what is available, iterating through experience, and refining as you grow. My leadership journey has taught me that progress doesn’t come from perfection, it comes from moving forward with what you know, adapting fast, and valuing people over progress. Trusting your instincts and being unafraid of setbacks is key to building something meaningful.
