Although women are traditionally seen as the ones who take care of others, they frequently put their health care needs last. The fact that modern women must juggle careers, households, and social lives often mean that they have little time left over for themselves to take care of their health. As a result, they have almost little time to focus on their health. Furthermore, many females are unaware of the need of maintaining a regular medical schedule and eating nutritious meals. They are similarly unaware of the many illnesses that might strike them. Dr. Shweta Mendiratta, a senior obstetrician and gynaecologist, is striving to change this perception by encouraging women to prioritize their health and wellness by scheduling frequent doctor's appointments.

Dr. Shweta Mendiratta has been working as a gynaecologist and obstetrician for over 15 years, making her a senior practitioner in her field. Her areas of expertise include, infertility, endoscopy, and high-risk pregnancies. Also, Dr. Shweta is works in a team of highly qualified gynaecologists and obstetricians, and she is constantly available to her patients.

Below is an excerpt of Dr. Shweta Mendiratta’s exclusive interaction with Women Entrepreneur magazine.

What are some important features of your expertise as a healthcare practitioner?

Over my 15 years in practice, I have honed my skills as an obstetrician and gynaecologist. Every patient is unique in my opinion; this is something I've learned through my years of practice as a professional. Since each person is unique, their care requirements will vary accordingly. Furthermore, I think women's health care that is tailored to each person is where the world is headed. Consequently, it is my goal to provide healthcare treatments tailored to the varying ages and conditions of women. I treat both young women and women going through menopause, as well as any other gynaecological issues they may have.

Tell us about some of the most key procedures and ailments that you specialize in treating. What are your focus areas while working with your patients?

I manage high-risk pregnancies and do laparoscopic surgeries. I also do hysterectomy procedures, which are performed both abdominally and vaginally. Furthermore, I also treat PCOD and other prevalent female gynaecological disorders simultaneously.

"For me, the key is to provide excellent care & be accessible to patients"

Throw some light on the most critical challenges you have had to face as a healthcare practitioner. What steps do you take to overcome the roadblocks that you encounter?

I've had to adjust to working in the private sector after spending much of my career in the public sector, and I've found that dealing with finances is difficult wherever healthcare is involved. Most individuals, in my opinion, seek out private healthcare providers because public facilities are overwhelmed. People are tired of waiting in long lines to see a doctor. They favour going into the private sector, but that comes at a high price.

Looking back at your journey, what have been some of the most significant professional milestones that you have achieved so far? What has been your success mantra?

When I've been seeing a pregnant woman for nine months leading up to the delivery, I feel like I need to have my phone on at all times in case she decides to contact me at any time of the day or night. Thus, every time I have the privilege of delivering a kid, I am reminded of the inspiration that led me to this profession, and I believe that this is the key to my success. Delivering a patient who had a renal transplant was one of challenging cases I've ever taken on, but I found that working in such situations in the private sector gave me a new outlook to life. For me, the key is to provide excellent care and be accessible to patients.

Drawing from your experience as a business leader, what would your advice be to young women and girls who also aspire to become business leaders and entrepreneurs in the future?

They should have learned to balance pursuing their goals with caring for their families, and this is something I believe is important for both men and women. A healthy work and personal life balance is something everyone should strive for as they get older. I think it's common for business ethics to throw off the equilibrium of a household, especially when it comes to the husband and wife. Even if they eventually realize that the family's equilibrium has been thrown off, they fail to see that their own private lives, including those of their spouse, are also inevitably affected. Therefore, it is important to teach children, particularly teenagers, how to strike a healthy balance.

Educating future generations on how to be successful in both one's personal and professional life is a priority for me. That's a major problem in modern society, and it's what I see among the newlywed women who come to me for help, as well as the infertile couples who come to me because of the delay in their weddings.
