Take us through your educational background. What motivated you to venture into the field of healthcare and specialize as an obstetrician & gynaecologist?

My educational journey commenced at the renowned Siva Sivani Public School in Hyderabad, driven by my father's unwavering belief in women's education. This institution, with its emphasis on lateral thinking and out-of-the-box creativity, laid the foundation for my intellectual growth. I pursued my MBBS, Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College, Gulbarga, where I immersed myself in rural service and surgical experiences.

Inspired by a passion for high-risk obstetrics and surgery, I undertook a DNB in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Yashoda Group of Hospitals, followed by diverse training experiences, including infertility treatment at the Oasis Centre of Reproductive Medicine. My extensive journey led to the establishment of KIMS Cuddles, a mother and child care unit, where my team and I focus on a holistic 360-degree approach to women's health, education, and empowerment. This journey is a testament to my commitment to transforming obstetric care and fostering a positive outlook on normal deliveries amid prevailing commercialization challenges.

By fostering awareness & adopting preventative measures, we aim to enhance reproductive outcomes & navigate the complexities of modern women's healthcare effectively

Introduce us to KIMS Cuddles. What are the various responsibilities you shoulder as the Clinical Director – Obstetrics & Gynaecology?

KIMS Cuddles is an integral part of the expansive KIMS Group, renowned for its 10,000-plus beds across India. As the Clinical Director of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Cuddles Kondapur, my role extends beyond conventional boundaries. I am the visionary behind Cuddles, overseeing infrastructure, strategic planning, and execution. My responsibilities encompass conceptualizing innovative approaches for women's comprehensive well-being, from obstetrics to geriatrics and advanced surgical interventions. We pride ourselves on a top-tier Mother and Child branch, featuring a state-of-the-art NICU, pediatric cardiac unit, and expertise in neonatal and pediatric intensive care. My commitment lies in orchestrating strategies that redefine healthcare paradigms, ensuring optimal care for mothers and children.

In your opinion what are some of the most critical challenges you encounter in your current role? What steps do you undertake to overcome these roadblocks?

In my current role, a significant challenge lies in addressing the evolving dynamics of women's lives. Many are prioritizing career goals before family planning, leading to age-related fertility issues. Conceiving becomes complex, posing risks of miscarriages and age-related health complications. To overcome these challenges, I focus on proactive education. Empowering women with knowledge of preventive measures against age-related health issues like diabetes and hypertension is crucial. Implementing early intervention strategies and advocating for a holistic approach to reproductive health are key steps. By fostering awareness and adopting preventative measures, we aim to enhance reproductive outcomes and navigate the complexities of modern women's healthcare effectively.

Throw light on the most critical professional milestone you have achieved over the years. What makes these achievements important to you?

One of the most critical professional milestones I've achieved is integrating holistic concepts like promoting millets, organic practices, and eco-friendly sustainability into obstetrics care at KIMS Cuddles. Emphasizing local, fresh, and traditional foods, coupled with fostering community through prenatal and postnatal groups, has revolutionized healthcare. The acceptance and positive impact on pregnant couples resonate with my passion for ethical, sustainable healthcare. Propagating wellness concepts, including yoga and Zumba sessions, has created a transformative and community-driven approach, to fostering healthy pregnancies. The COVID era accelerated acceptance, highlighting the importance of embracing holistic health practices in everyone's life.

How do you foresee the Indian healthcare landscape evolving in 2024? Which industry trends will create the most significant impact?

In 2024, the Indian healthcare landscape is poised for significant evolution. While the private sector boasts a robust infrastructure, improvements are needed in the public sector. Access to doctors, a unique advantage in India, contrasts with countries like the US or UK, where appointments are mandatory. However, the escalating prevalence of lifestyle-related health issues, making India a leader in diabetes and other ailments, underscores the urgency for lifestyle modifications. Recognizing the pivotal role of individual responsibility in health is imperative to sustain the current accessibility to healthcare services.
