As a culmination of her observations and her lifelong dream to become an entrepreneur, Apourva founded Life n Colors, a creator of the finest wallpapers and wall arts in India.

A well-travelled business leader, Apourva comes armed with an MBA from KJ Somiaya Mumbai. She has also completed a Luxury Product Management course at IIM Ahmedabad. She has extensive experience in top management positions and provides strategic direction to Life n Colors as the firm’s primary leader. In 2019 Apourva was awarded the Woman of Influence Award and in 2018 she won the Woman Entrepreneur Award and the Lady Boss Award.

The Women Entrepreneur Magazine team interviewed Apourva (Founder and CEO), the driving force behind the establishment of Life n Colors.

Give us a brief overview of Life n Colors. What are some important features about your expertise as an entrepreneur that you want us to highlight through the article?

Life n Colors, founded in 2013, is a prestigious digital brand that offers world-class home décor products and designs in the Indian market. It is presently known as one of India's leading wallpaper and wall-art designers. The bespoke wallpaper designs and styles are featured in both residential and commercial projects. Life n Colors also offers personalized wallpapers to customers in India and other countries such as the United Kingdom, Canada, Dubai, and Singapore through online platform.

As an entrepreneur, my expertise and experience aid Life n Colors in building a global brand in the home décor sector from India. In recent years, it has resulted in tremendous expansion. We were able to build an excellent portfolio of luxury and premium custom-made products as well as receive consistent 5 star evaluations from our clients.

Take us through your early educational journey and prior industry experience that you bring to the table. What motivated you to venture into establishing a home décor brand which specializes in wallpapers?

I received my B.Com (Hons.) from Delhi University and MBA in Human Resources from K.J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies. I have also completed a Luxury Product Management course at IIM Ahmedabad. Prior to launching Life n Colors, I had top management positions in Indian MNCs and start-ups. I worked as a Senior Specialist in Human Resources for Fidelity India and as the Head of Human Resources for Emergent Ventures India.

I happen to be a frequent traveller. My frequent trips to different regions of this country inspired me to create a world-class home décor brand that might compensate for a lack of delicacy and quality in the home designing goods sector, particularly in Indian marketplaces. As a result, Life n Colors, a creator of the finest wallpapers and wall-arts in India.

Tell us about the various roles and responsibilities that you shoulder at Life n Colors as the founder & CEO. In your opinion what are some of the most challenging aspects of your current role?

At Life n Colors, I am responsible for providing strategic direction to the company, getting right talent on board, and ensuring that we deliver high quality products for our clients, resulting in an incredible experience for them.

The most challenging aspect of my role is figuring out how to manage well the unprecedented growth we've experienced in recent years along with ensuring each and every client experience is exceptional. We are now working in several regions, and our ability to provide a seamless experience for our clients

Tell us about some of the major design styles and philosophies that influence your work as a designer. Where do you draw inspiration from as a creative person? 

We are greatly influenced by vintage design concepts that have been modernized to meet current design trends. Currently our most famous and loved design theme include vintage India scenic designs, chinoiserie, tropical and jungle theme, Indian art forms, and kids special collection.

I had a strong desire to become an entrepreneur, and I founded my firm after noticing an unfulfilled need in the Indian market for customized and beautiful wallpapers and wall-art options. To meet this need, I have created my venture Life n Colors.

In your opinion what are some of the major trends developing within the Indian home décor industry going forward? What steps are you taking towards making Life N Colors future ready?

Customization of home décor concepts, ideas, and items is a significant business trend. Client expectations and awareness have also skyrocketed in recent years. The industry has expressed a desire to go beyond foreign themes and offer Indian-themed products for homes and businesses. Clients desire uniqueness in their spaces and aren't content with just replicating foreign patterns on their walls. They are open to fresh ideas for bringing colour and vibrancy to their surroundings.

We were able to carve ourselves a position in the business, and we are now renowned as a firm that develops incredibly unique and personalized wallpapers. We were able to create a dependable and convenient online purchase system that allows customers to select designs based on their design requirements and inspect final product before printing.

As a successful business leader what would your advice be to young women aspiring to become business leaders and entrepreneurs in the future?

I would encourage young girls to pursue their goals while being faithful to their principles, since this leads to excellent industry experiences. If you are passionate about your career, you will certainly achieve success. Try to use technology as much as possible because it is a crucial differentiator in today's and tomorrow's world. Trust people and delegate responsibilities to help your company rise higher.
