The Women’s Premier League (WPL) is all set to be back on the fields of prestigious stadiums. The first season of this tournament was a blast starting with the auction and Smriti Mandhana becoming the most valuable player with the highest auction. Mumbai Indians showcased a splendid performance and clinched the maiden title of the previous season which concluded in March 2023.

WPL is a professional Twenty20 cricket league in India. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) controls and manages this tournament. The second auction for the 2024 WPL, which has five franchises, is all set to take place today, 9 December 2023 in Mumbai.

This is the league's first-ever mini-auction. The Sports 18 Network will telecast live coverage of the auction starting at 3:00 pm (IST). Jio Cinema will have live streaming of the auction available.

The tournament's second year will feature five participating teams, as it did in its March inaugural edition: the Mumbai Indians, UP Warriorz, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Giants, and Delhi Capitals.

There are 61 foreign players on the auction list, including 15 players from associate nations, and 104 Indian players. Nine spots are remaining for international players out of the 30 slots that are available with the five teams.

The Gujarat Giants, with a salary cap of Rs. 5.95 crore, will start the 2024 WPL auction with the highest salary cap available. Of the five teams, the defending champion Mumbai Indians will have the least amount of money available (2.1 crore).
