WPL 2023: UP Warriorz named Alyssa Healy as the Team's Captain

Australia's Alyssa Healy has been selected to lead the UP Warriorz team in the first Women's Premier League (WPL) in 2023. The Women's Premier League's inaugural season is scheduled to begin in Mumbai the following month. At the WPL 2023 auction, UP Warriorz, a team owned by Capri Global Holdings Private Limited, fielded a star-studded lineup for the first Women's Premier League.
Healy, one of the top batsmen in international cricket, is one of the six foreign athletes that the Warriorz team has signed for the WPL 2023. The Warriorz lineup also includes Uttar Pradesh-born Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma. Indian all-rounder Deepti signed with the UP-based team for a staggering 2.6 crore.
Prior to this, Deepti was the front-runner to be the team's captain, but UP Warriorz announced on Wednesday that Australian wicketkeeper and batter Alyssa Healy is prepared to take the helm of the squad in the WPL.
Healy stated “The WPL is a tournament we have all been keenly waiting on, and the UP Warriorz have a fantastic squad, waiting to making a splash once things get going. We have a good mix of experience and youth along with the ability and look forward to putting on a show for our fans. We are here to win and be ruthless in our brand of cricket.”
