  • The second season of the Women’s Hockey India League to take place in Ranchi from December 28
  • It will feature top players from India, along with players from around the world
  • The matches will be played in a short, intense format in order to increase the level of women's hockey

The second version of the Women's Hockey India League will take place in the city of Ranchi from 28th December to 10th January.

The success of the first version of the league, which saw quite good attendance and stiff matches, will be built upon. The event will once again host skilled Indian players along with foreign talent in a short and tough format.

All matches of this league will take place in "Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astro Turf Hockey Stadium, Ranchi". There will be four teams, Ranchi Royals, SG Pipers, JSW Soorma Hockey Club, and Shrachi Bengal Tigers, which will take part in this league to win this title.

The league phase of this competition will be of double rounds, and only the top teams will take part in the final match, which will be conducted on 10th January, 2026.

Last season, Odisha Warriors sealed the title, while JSW Soorma Hockey Club finished as runner-ups. This season too is likely to be a close contest, and JSW Soorma Hockey Club is likely to further improve their position this season, having topped the league last season.

Players representing countries such as the Netherlands, Argentina, Belgium, Australia, Spain, and Great Britain are expected to participate.

Ranchi Royals, Shrachi Bengal Tigers, and SG Pipers, who finished at third and fourth places in their very first season, have plans in place for further development, and this will become evident when Ranchi Royals lock horns with SG Pipers in an opening match in PremierHoops Championship to be held on December 28.

The tournament will feature 13 matches spread over 13 days, and the tournament is expected to provide an opportunity for the young players in India to compete with experienced players across the world.

The tournament was anticipated to provide an opportunity for the game of hockey in the country to gain more popularity.

“The captains underscored the need for team preparation, team balance, and consistency as team members and the need for disciplined team performance,” they quoted.
