Women Expected to Outlive Men in Few Years, Says Indian Economic Survey 2021-22

According to the Economic Survey 2021-22, which were tabled in Parliament on Monday by Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman, Indian women are expected to outlive men by a few years.
According to the survey, the 'Sample Registration based System (SRS) based 'Abridged Life Tables 2014-18' report provides estimates of average longevity at various age groups as well as estimates of expected life at birth for India for 2014-18.
Females are expected to live longer (70.7 years) than males (68.2 years), according to the survey, and females are expected to live longer in most States/UTs, both rural and urban areas, with the exception of Bihar and Jharkhand.
Furthermore, the life expectancy at birth, which was 69.4 years from 2013 to 2018, increased by 0.4 years from 2013 to 2018. "It varies greatly between states, with the lowest being 65.2 years in Chhattisgarh and the highest being 75.3 years in Kerala and Delhi." According to the survey, it is higher in urban areas (72.6 years) than in rural areas (68.0 years).
According to the survey, the gap between rural and urban life expectancy has narrowed significantly from 1970-75 to 2014-18. The increase in rural life expectancy from 2013 to 2017 was 0.3 years higher than the increase in urban areas (0.2 years). Given the country's rising life expectancy, the rationale for life insurers to raise their premium rates is a legitimate concern.
