The Women Cancer Summit 2026 took place in Mysuru on Sunday, featuring eminent oncologists, gynecologists and healthcare experts from around the state of Karnataka discussing the latest developments in the field of women cancer care. The summit, organized by ClearMedi Healthcare, Karnataka College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Mysore Obstetrics and Gynecological Society (MOGS) and Mysore Association of Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Clinics and Diagnostic Centers (MADNC) aimed to reinforce the importance of cancer prevention, early diagnosis and multidisciplinary treatment, addressing the emerging impact of artificial intelligence (AI) in oncology.
The conference was a forum for sharing information and insights among medical experts on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the major cancers affecting women such as breast, cervical, ovarian and endometrial cancers. The importance of timely detection, coordinated care and referral to improve survival and patient outcomes was the subject of discussion.
A close cooperation between gynecologists, oncologists, radiologists, pathologists and surgeons was emphasized to ensure effective management of cancer, experts said. They emphasized the importance of a multi-disciplinary treatment strategy, which integrates specific expertise together to address the individual patient's needs.

One of the key concerns at the summit was the access to quality oncology services at Mysuru and in the adjoining areas of Mandya, Kodagu, Hassan and Chamarajanagar districts. In areas with limited or poor access to cancer services, delayed diagnosis and treatment remains a major barrier, and speakers stressed the need for expanding specialized cancer care in these rural, underserved areas.
Srinivas K.G., Director of Oncology Services and Senior Consultant at the ClearMedi Healthcare Hospitals said that cancer treatment has now become a specialized multidisciplinary field, which demands a coordinated approach by experts practicing in various areas of medicine. To achieve better survival rates and improve patients' quality of life, it is critical to employ evidence-based practices and timely intervention, he added, noting that treatment strategies need to be personalized. He also restated that early diagnosis is one of the most powerful means to minimize the impact of cancer on women.
Senior Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Sonia Mandappa, President of the Mysore Obstetrics and Gynecological Society (MOGS) spoke about the need for preventive health care and screening. She advised women to get regular check-ups for cervical, breast, and endometrial cancers, and recommended healthcare workers to make prompt referrals when these cancers are found. She feels being aware and taking preventative measures can help make a huge difference in the impact of cancer through earlier detection and intervention.
Raxith Sringeri, Sr. Consultant Surgical Oncologist & Robotic Surgeon delivered the keynote address highlighting the impact of Artificial Intelligence and Robotic-assisted surgery in the current era of oncology. He said that AI is being used to assist with the precision of surgery, to aid clinical decision-making and to support treatment planning, all of which are contributing to better patient outcomes. He mentioned some new technologies, but made sure to stress that AI is meant to augment, not supplant, the skills and experience of the surgeon.
Scientific sessions were also held by renowned experts on emerging cancer therapies, advancement of surgical procedures, and Multidisciplinary Cancer Management and latest Clinical guidelines at the summit. The event highlighted the significance of teamwork in healthcare, innovation in technology, and prevention measures for enhancing the care and management of women's cancer in Karnataka.
