Vietnam Targets 30% Women-Owned Enterprises by 2030

  • It accentuates women's contribution to sustainable economic development
  • According to the plan, support for women-led start-ups will be provided from 2026 to 2035

The Vietnamese government has set a target of 30 percent of its enterprises owning by women by 2030 to help confirm women's position in sustainable economic development over the next decade.

This target is included in Decision No. 2415/QD-TTg which was recently signed by Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính establishing a project to support women entrepreneurs in the years to come, 2026-2035.

The project will support access to preferential credit and start-up/innovation funds, as well as registration and formalization procedures for 75,000 women-owned enterprises, cooperatives and business households and 25,000 business prototypes.

The project will also provide support for restructuring operations, as well as business capacity and sustainability support for 8,000 women-owned start-ups and cooperatives.

It elaborates further on the measures such as to encourage entrepreneurship and business aspirations among women. Developing and connecting the components of the start-up support ecosystem.

Encouraging the participation of women in sustainable, digital, and green business models. Review and propose policy recommendations to enhance women's entrepreneurship.

The beneficiaries under this project are all women interested in doing business, concentrating on disadvantaged and vulnerable groups.

These include single mothers, women with disabilities, women in households with disabled family members, ethnic minority women, retired female athletes, women who have served prison sentences, women affected by HIV, victims of domestic violence or human trafficking, elderly women coming back from industrial zones, women coming back from overseas employment, and migrant women undertaking informal work.
