The Vodafone Idea Foundation praised 40 female students Thursday who are from the maiden batch of the IoT Centre of Excellence.
Around 300 students have applied for the first batch in the Vi Foundation which is a mobile network operator set up in CoE which has collaborated with the Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC).
To extend the benefits of this project, 15 boys have also been selected for providing the course pilot, and apart from this in the 300 applications, the females will be provided proper guidance about STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).
The senior manager at the TSSC for the IoT Centre stated that they are already running some major projects for the economically weaker sections but in this project, they are more focused on empowering women in society.
With the increase in new technologies such as 5G and IoT, there is an increase in the demand for skilled professionals, said KK Dwivedi, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Additional Secretary.
