Varanasi Police Launches Cyber Gyan Pustika for Women's Safety

The Varanasi police initiated the Cyber Gyan Pustika (Cyber Knowledge Booklet) on the occasion of Mission Shakti 5.0 with the goal of making women aware and empowered in their digital security.

In regard to this initiative, Mohit Agrawal, the Commissioner of Police, discussed several techniques for women to protect themselves against crimes such as cyber bullying, obscene material, financial fraud, phishing scams, cyber stalking, and investment scams.

He stated that nowadays, safety is not just in terms of physical safety, but it also has to be safety for digital spaces. Programs like the Cyber Gyan Pustika are starting steps in making women and citizens aware, empowered, and secure digitally to live in the digital age.

The booklet outlines simple terms and practical tools for to help citizen’s combat crime, understand cybercrime, and avoid being a victim of cybercrime.

In the case of cyber simplicities, the booklet recommends women to immediately contact '1930' or register complaints via the following sites: www.cybercrime.gov.in or district cybercrime cell.

As part of the awareness campaign, the police also showcased standees on cyber awareness that will be put on display at key public venues, and transmitted radio awareness clips for ongoing public awareness.

CP Agrawal encouraged citizens to stay vigilant, safeguard their personal information, and refrain from suspicious behavior, and to utilize, as needed, the emergency helplines Power Line 1090, and Dial 112.

Bank experts provided knowledge on how to protect themselves from financial cyber frauds, especially against women, and to transact safely.

The program also exposed the strategies they utilized by posing as police or government officers requesting money through a fake digital arrest or a falsified warrant and cautioned them not to trust any communications.

Other senior officers of the department present during the event included Additional CP (Law and Order, and Headquarters) Shivhari Meena, Additional CP (Crime) Rajesh Kumar Singh, ADCP (Women Crime) Namrita Shrivastava, and ACP (Cyber Crime) Vidush Saxena.
