Vadodara Police SHE Team Arrests 70 Romeos in 'Romeo decoy' drive

The Vadodara city police SHE unit has successfully apprehended 70 "Romeos" as part of its 'Romeo Decoy' drive across the city to crack down on and catch eve-teasers from spots frequented by women and teenagers.

Since the drive's inception in mid-December 2021, the SHE team has arrested and charged 70 people for eve-teasing and harassment of women and teenagers.

As part of the campaign, a unit of five female policemen from the She Team patrol congested areas frequented by women, such as schools, tuition classes, colleges, and empty areas, in order to identify potential eve-teasers. The officer then acts as a decoy in order to apprehend the perpetrators.

Radhika Bharai, Assistant Commissioner of Police, stated, “Apprehending and averting cases of eve-teasing and harassment to women is the first of the charters of the She Team. The drive has been initiated for the specific purpose of making crowded areas safer for women and teenagers.”
