On the first day of the "Breaking Barriers – Women in Leadership and Entrepreneurship" conference by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce at Hotel Taj, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel gave a strong appeal for inclusive development and gender parity. The conference was graced by top women leaders and businesswomen.
In her keynote speech, the Governor urged more attention and support for rural women and the transgender community, stressing that actual change has to touch those who work behind the scenes at the grassroots level. She congratulated 14 women achievers from different fields and urged organisers to give greater recognition to village women who are changing society without media platforms.
Governor Anandiben also issued a forward-thinking appeal for educating and accepting transgender children, calling for equal opportunities and nurture for the abandoned ones. Referring to success stories in Kashi and Basti, she discussed ongoing projects aimed at training and hiring transgender people.
Touching on vital social issues, she emphasized the need for women's safety, legal literacy, and welfare scheme access. She talked about plans to connect anganwadis with universities through the KG to PG model and called for large-scale HPV vaccinations among girls to immunize them against cervical cancer, stating that people could "adopt" a girl child to secure her health and well-being.

Appealing to the public to help in campaigns against drugs, as well as the establishment of local education and health care units, she stressed the capability of people's efforts to make changes. Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh and singer Malini Awasthi also spoke at the meeting, commending Governor Patel for her relentless efforts towards empowering women.
Ending her speech on a positive note, Governor Anandiben said, "The day is not far when women will occupy all top positions in the country."
