The Indian government shall facilitate women’s higher participation in the workforce by arranging working women hostels and crèches by collaborating with industries, as stated by the Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman during the Union Budget 2024.
She has announced a total of ₹3 trillion in the Union Budget, for the schemes that are benefiting women and girls. Adding to the statement, she said that alliances and collaborations shall be formed in order to organise skilling programmes that are specifically for women and will also promote women self-help group (SHG) enterprises’ market access.
The honourable minister said, “We will facilitate higher participation of women in the workforce by setting up working women hostels in collaboration with industries and the establishment of crèches. In addition, the partnership will seek to organize women-specific skilling programmes and promote market access for women SHG enterprises.... Working women’s hostels would be set up in the country to promote women’s participation in the workforce.”
This scheme will benefit the working women and encourage them to continue with their careers, since the biggest concern for them is to have a safe living. Women and girls shall get the opportunity to network and learn more by these skilling programmes.
