At the FICCI Ladies Organization’s 37th Annual Session, the oldest women-led and women-centric business chamber of Southeast Asia declared the appointment of Ujjwala Singhania as the 38th National President for the year 2021-2022.
Ujjwala will concentrate on empowering women as the 38th National President of FLO by facilitating an enabling atmosphere that encourages women to engage in entrepreneurship, business participation, and economic growth. FLO will carry out a number of initiatives under her leadership in order to encourage more women to participate in India's industrial and economic growth narrative.
Speaking about her new role, Ujjwala Singhania, said “It’s an honour for me to be the National President of an organization like FLO which has had such an illustrious history of working towards the development & empowerment of women. I have been a part of this women’s consortium for over 19 years & the collective mission of the organization is to encourage and facilitate women to showcase their talents, skills, experiences & energy across sectors and verticals for a truly inclusive economic growth trajectory.”
She also stated that women contribute significantly to the nation's industrial production, and that there is a need to tap into the greatly underutilised capacity of the female workforce and entrepreneurship, as only 14% of women are employed. She also stated that FLO would host Conclaves, Trade Expos, and Industrial Parks for 100 percent women-owned manufacturing businesses, allowing them to make transformative changes in women's lives.
Ujjwala Singhania's resume includes executive positions at JK International, a company that invests in private equity and venture capital, and General Data Private Limited, software development and engineering analysis firm. It will be fascinating to see how she leads the FLO in implementing new women's empowerment programmes.
