  • The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has released that 4,535 women entrepreneurs are registered on the Udyam Sakhi Portal.
  • The portal has been developed as a source to empower women entrepreneurs by providing access to financial schemes, policies and programmes of the MSME Ministry.

Considering that 4,535 women entrepreneurs registered on the Udyam Sakhi Portal, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) issued a statement reaffirming that Udyam Sakhi Portal is a strong digital portal to showcase women enterprises in India.

The Udyam Sakhi Portal is an outcome of the collaborative effort of the Ministry of MSME and the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship at a total implemented cost of ₹ 43.52 lakh and was inaugurated in 2018.

The platform's primary emphasis is enabling women entrepreneurs through the accessibility of the policies, schemes and programs provided by the Ministry of MSME, to benefit both prospective and current women entrepreneurs in order to establish, operate and grow their business and generate more self-reliance.

The portal gives details of all mainstream MSME schemes such as the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE), MUDRA loans and the Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS).

It also offers support for business planning, identifying state-level nodal officers and agencies, and participating in exhibitions, trade fairs, and international events for the Ministry.

The Ministry says the portal is now a key facilitator of women entrepreneurship and economic participation in India.

The Minister of State for MSME, Shobha Karandlaje, made this announcement in a written response to the Rajya Sabha as the government continues to focus on institutional encouragement to women entrepreneurs.
