UBUNTU-Hitachi Rail CSR to Train 1,000 Womenpreneurs in Karnataka

  • UBUNTU Consortium collaborates with Hitachi Rail as part of its CSR Programme
  • The Programme seeks to train over 1,000 women entrepreneurs in Karnataka
  • Emphasis is on women-led businesses and digital inclusion

UBUNTU Consortiums’ (non-profit organization that assists female entrepreneurs) has joined together with Hitachi Rail Corporation in their corporate social responsibility Programme to train over a thousand (1,000) women entrepreneurs in the state of Karnataka to develop their own businesses.

By executing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 1st of November 2017 by Manoj Kumar Krishnappa Head of Hitachi Rail Corporation, the partnership with Hitachi Rail will also help 10 different Associations of Women Entrepreneurs (groups of women) by training each group of women in the use of Digital Marketing to promote the sale of their products through the use of Digital Media within Karnataka and beyond.

Hitachi Rail Corporation said this new program with the UBUNTU Consortium is part of their support of Women Entrepreneurs and therefore contribute positively to the Economic Growth of the Women Owner of Business & (2) Market Opportunities for the Women and the Women’s Businesses Owners selling products in domestic and international markets.

K. Ratnaprabha, founder president and formerly the Chief Secretary of Karnataka, said this partnership will support the development of training programs, the development of supply chain methods for their businesses and create new business opportunities, especially for companies involved with infrastructure and related products and services.

She also emphasised the need to take up some of the challenges that exist within the industry by providing female entrepreneurs with opportunities to participate in larger scale projects and to be integrated into global value chains. UBUNTU has trained over 4000 female entrepreneurs previously.
