"How Women Work," a forthcoming book, examines working women via a pan-Asian lens, seeing them in countries including China, India, Singapore, the Philippines, and Thailand.
The book, published by author Aarti Kelshikar, strives to deepen and enrich understanding of women leadership in one of the world's most dynamic regions through insights from both female and male leaders. The date of release is set for February 25.
"I developed this book to offer an Asian viewpoint on women's leadership and achievement in Asia, which I felt was an important topic that needed to be researched and highlighted.
"The book will speak to you on many levels, make you grin, have "Aha" moments, and remind you to acknowledge your accomplishments and continue learning. The most important thing is that it will motivate you to lead and be successful in an authentic way, according to Kelshikar, who is also the author of "How India Works: Making Sense of a Complicated Corporate Culture."
Are there distinct standards for women leaders in Asia and the West? How are Asian female leaders viewed? What are the prejudices and cultural barriers that they face? are some of the issues that the book discusses.
In addition, it outlines the techniques and tactics that modern working leaders should use as they navigate the complex connections between leadership and culture in the Asian hemisphere.
The book is a celebration of how women are rewriting the standards for professional success, according to HarperCollins, the book's publisher.
The fact that Aarti Kelshikar takes a reader on a pan-Asian journey where women overcoming cultural and geographic barriers are facing problems head-on and succeeding in their careers makes it very enlightening. This is a must-read book for any aspirant female leader, according to HarperCollins executive editor Sachin Sharma.
