  • MI beat RCB by 15 runs to boost their playoff hopes
  • Nat Sciver-Brunt smashed her maiden WPL century for MI
  • MI posted 199/4, the highest total at Vadodara this season

Mumbai Indians pulled off a season-defining win in the Women’s Premier League, edging Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 15 runs in a high-scoring contest at Vadodara, powered by a long-awaited landmark from Nat Sciver-Brunt.

Sciver-Brunt finally broke her WPL century drought, producing a masterclass 100 not out that anchored MI to 199 for 4, the highest total at the venue this season. On a surface that offered little pace, she began steadily before switching gears after the powerplay, finding gaps with precision and timing. After MI’s cautious start and an early loss, Sciver-Brunt stitched together a dominant partnership with Hayley Matthews, the pair accelerating sharply through the middle overs. Hayley complemented her perfectly with a fluent half-century, as the duo dismantled RCB’s bowling and set a daunting target.

The chase began disastrously for RCB. Hayley’s offspin and MI’s pace attack triggered a dramatic collapse, reducing the table-toppers to 35 for 5 inside the powerplay. With the required rate spiralling, the contest appeared one-sided until Richa Ghosh launched a stunning counterattack. Given early reprieves, Richa played a fearless knock of 90 off 50 balls, striking cleanly and relentlessly to revive faint hopes.

She tore into MI’s attack at the death, smashing a flurry of boundaries and sixes to drag the equation close, but lacked support at the other end. Despite her late heroics, the target proved just out of reach, with MI holding their nerve to secure a crucial victory.

The result lifted the Mumbai Indians to second on the points table and reignited their playoff push, while RCB suffered a second straight defeat after a dominant start to the season.
