Delhi Capitals secured a thrilling seven-wicket victory over UP Warriorz in Match 6 of the TATA Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025. DC Captain Meg Lanning and Annabel Sutherland contributed to the win. DC is placed in the Top-2 spot in the points table, while UPW is currently bottom-placed.
Team Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to chase first. UPW, losing its seven wickets, smashed 166 runs in 20 overs, which was chased down by DC, scoring 167/3 in 19.5 overs at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara. Meg Lanning, the highest run-scorer in TATA WPL history, set up DC's chase of 167, with Annabel Sutherland and Marizanne Kapp securing the win.
UPW started on a good note, with Kiran Navgire(51 off 27) and Vrinda Dinesh (16 off 15) having a good partnership. However, Annabel Sutherland dismissed both the openers, while Sarah Bryce's work behind the stumps restricted UPW's recovery. Sarah stumped Deepti Sharma (7 off 7) and Tahila McGrath (1 off 6), bowled by Minnu Mani and Jess Jonassen, respectively. Grace Harris and Shweta Sehrawat's rebuilding efforts contributed 36 runs before Harris' wicket. Chinelle Henry, replacing Alyssa Healy, provided attacking impetus, helping UPW post a competitive 166/7.
Four batters of DC secured the match during the second inning. Meg Lanning (69 off 49 and Shafali Verma (26 off 16), the WPL's most successful batting partnership, powered DC to 59/0 in the powerplay. However, Deepti Sharma caught Shafali after 26 runs. Jemimah Rodrigues was gobbled up by Gaikwad soon after she came to the pitch. Skipper Meg Lanning and Annabel Sutherland (41 off 35) led the counter-punch, completing a half-century off 34 deliveries. UPW, however, regained the game after Grace Harris cleaned up Lanning. Sutherland's cautiousness and Marizanne Kapp's (29 off 17) aggression helped DC close, but UPW missed a run-out chance, with Kapp holding her ground to secure the win.
