Tata WPL 2023: Delhi Capitals beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 60 runs

The second day of the inaugural season of the Women's Premier League witnesses a double header match day. It has been a great day for the spectators as Delhi Capitals won the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore with 60 runs. The first match was held at Brabourne Stadium on Sunday where Delhi Capitals played against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The match was really interesting as both the teams had some of the most renowned players.

The playing XI members of both the Squads were:

Delhi Capitals Women (Playing XI):

Shafali Verma, Meg Lanning(c), Taniya Bhatia(w), Jemimah Rodrigues, Alice Capsey, Tara Norris, Jess Jonassen, Marizanne Kapp, Arundhati Reddy, Shikha Pandey, Radha Yadav.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Women (Playing XI):

Smriti Mandhana(c), Richa Ghosh(w), Sophie Devine, Heather Knight, Megan Schutt, Disha Kasat, Ellyse Perry, Asha Shobana, Preeti Bose, Renuka Thakur Singh, Kanika Ahuja.

The match started with a great cheer from 3:30 p.m. where Smriti Mandhana led RCB to win the toss and opted to bowl against DC in their first-ever Tata WPL. Meg Lanning led Delhi Capitals gave a tough competition to RCB while batting as captain Meg and Shafali Verma became the highest run scorer of the day. The team made 223 runs in 20 overs where skipper Meg scored 72 runs in 43 balls and Shafali Verma who became the top scorer made 84 off 45 balls.

Team RCB could only chase up to 163-8 in 20 overs. Tara Norris player of the DC team took historical 5 wickets to haul in the WPL.
