The ManpowerGroup India Employment Outlook Survey shows that Indian employers are actively promoting diversity and gender parity in their workplaces. 54 per cent of Indian employers believe their Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) initiatives encourage female participation across varied sectors, higher than the global average of 46 per cent.
Indian workplaces have a high female participation rate, with the IT sector leading in enhancing gender diversity that is followed by healthcare, life sciences, financials, and real estate sectors. However, the consumer goods and services sector needs improvement. 80 per cent of employers believe that technology plays a crucial role in promoting gender equality, and technological developments have increased adaptability, which promotes gender equity in the workforce. Indian employers are reshaping hiring strategies in order to create inclusive workplaces with a strong emphasis on the hiring of women employees at all levels, and utilizing technology.
Sandeep Gulati, MD, ManpowerGroup India, and Middle East mentions, "India's gender diversity is among the best worldwide and it is encouraging to see women's participation in the workforce increasing at a rapid pace. Organizations have realigned their hiring strategies by mandating women hiring at every level across sectors." The survey further revealed that senior-level management positions are the most underrepresented in women candidates, highlighting the need for employers to make significant changes.
