Sunita Rebecca Cherian's 29-Year Stint at Wipro Comes to a Close

- Over 29+ years in Wipro, she held many leadership positions
After over two and a half decades of her illustrious career with Wipro, Sunita Rebecca Cherian, who is currently a member of the Wipro Executive Committee, has decided to retire from her services.
Sunita joined Wipro as a campus selection candidate from College of Engineering, Trivandrum, in 1996. She has been associated with the organisation for over 29 years. Her last designation was that of Chief Culture Officer and Senior Vice President, Human Resources.
With an electrical and electronics engineering background and a post graduate diploma in business administration, Sunita stated that Wipro is “second home” to her in a post on Linkedln because it played an important part in both her personal and professional development.
The numerous fields that she was involved in during her time with the company included sales, human capital strategy, board and total rewards strategy, transitions in the workforce, merger and acquisition, organisational designs, shared services in HR, sustainability, as well as inclusion and diversity.
Sunita had been actively involved in defining human resource and change management approaches at various levels of Wipro, including the startup entities. She also functioned as the Chair of the Inclusion and Diversity Council of Wipro.
Apart from that, she also held positions as Chair of NASSCOM National Diversity and Inclusion Council and was a member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committees of the Confederation of Indian Industry and Catalyst. Furthermore, she is currently a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council.
At Wipro, She was deeply involved in the development of a framework of inclusion for the company. Under Sunita's leadership, the ‘Women of Wipro’ corporate program has helped bring about a focus on inclusion as well as empowerment of women workers.
Evaluating her career life, Sunita showed her appreciation for the mentors, peers, and team she worked with at Wipro. She moves to the next phase of her career life after her retirement from the company.
