India batter Smriti Mandhana has returned to the top of the ICC ODI rankings for women batters, released on Tuesday, following her half-century in the Australia match.
In the first of the three-match series at Mullanpur, Smriti scored 58 runs off 63 balls. Although she played well, Australia took the first of the three-match series comfortably, taking a 1-0 lead.
This week one ranking comes ahead of the Women's Cricket World Cup, starting September 30. Mandhana had earned seven additional rating points for her play, remaining four points ahead of England's Nat Sciver-Brunt, who moved to second place.
Smriti is at present placed on 735 rating points, two points above Sciver-Brunt's 731. Having attained the position of the best ODI batter in 2019 for the first time, she has now done that for the second time in 2025.
Indian opener Pratika Rawal moved up by four positions to 42nd ranking after scoring 64 runs, while Harleen Deol moved up to 43rd ranking after her score of 54 runs against Australia. Australia's Beth Mooney moved up by three positions to fifth ranking after scoring an unbeaten 77 runs.
Teammates Annabel Sutherland and Phoebe Litchfield moved up to rank equally at the 25th position after their half-centuries helped Australia claim the game by eight wickets.
Among the bowling rankings, Australian cricketers Alana King and Kim Garth reached career-best ranks of fourth and fifth, respectively. Indian bowler Sneh Rana rose five spots to 13th following a wicket in the first ODI, while England's Sophie Ecclestone remains in the number one position
