Shooter Ria Rajeshwari earns India's 7th Qualifying Spot for 2024 Paris Olympics

Ria Rajeshwari Kumari returned from the ISSF World Championship event final in Azerbaijan with extreme joy. She explained her emotions during the match. Ria secured the fifth position in the women's trap event to earn the nation's seventh Olympic quota for the 2024 Paris Games. She also succeeded Shagun Chowdhary as the only other trap shooter to ever qualify for the Olympics in the women's trap division.
Ria stated that she felt anxious during her finals but made efforts to keep things simple and calm and she is glad to secure a quota for the nation.
She entered the finals on Thursday securing third place (120/125). She finished with a perfect 25 in the final qualification round after having three series of 24, 25, and 24 in the finals. Chun Yi Lin of China won the match with a score of 40 out of 50 shots whereas Jessica Rossi of Italy secured the second place with 39 points. Kathrin Murche of Germany (28/40) took home the bronze.
Ria Rajeshwari is the daughter of renowned shotgun shooter and OCA acting President Randhir Singh. She would be heading towards the Paris Olympics with the Indian team next year.
Her father mentioned that he and the whole family are proud of Ria. Randhir Singh is also a former Olympian and secretary general of the Indian Olympic Association.
Along with Ria Rajeshwari, other competitors with quotas include Mehuli Ghosh in the women's 10m air rifle, Akhil Sheoran in the men's 50m Rifle 3-Positions, and Sift Kaur Samra in the women's 50m rifle.
