SAPNA Package Essential for Empowering Women and Reducing Poverty

According to Prof. Dr. Sankar Kumar Sanyal, President of the Harijan Sevak Sangh of India, the Social Assistance Programme for Non-Assetor (SAPNA) Package may significantly contribute to empowering women and reducing poverty among the poor and underdeveloped countries.
He stated that such a noble initiative driven by Bangladeshi Government is a part of the strategy to support women and reduce poverty.
On Saturday, after visiting the recipients of the SAPNA package at Chatkhil SAPNA Maa Village in Noakhali, Dr. Sankar addressed the 'Maa Sangsad'. He praised the founder of the Development Organisation of the Rural Poor (DORP), AHM Nouman, for creating this initiative of the SAPNA package.
According to Kamrun Nahar who is the Chatkhil Upazila Women Affairs Officer, 84 pregnant women in seven Union Parishad areas of the Upazila were recipients of the SAPNA package. It was a decent deal for a pregnant woman in a rural village.
Notable persons like former Indian MP and members of the executive committee of Harijan Sevak Sangh were also discussed at the meeting.
Sabina Yeasmin, Sajeda Begum, and Rahima Begum, SAPNA mothers, also discussed the advantages of the package and urged the Bangladeshi government to restart offering the benefits of this package to more mothers all over the country to combat poverty.
