Samsung R&D Institute India, Bangalore (SRI-B) has launched its flagship global citizenship initiative, the Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC), at Karnataka’s first all-women’s engineering institution, Geetha Shishu Shikshana Sangha (GSSS) Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women, Mysore. This program highlights Samsung’s dedication to promoting gender equality in STEM and nurturing the next generation of women leaders in technology.
The SIC program was launched in September 2022. It offers an extensive curriculum focused on core technology skills such as Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML), Big Data, and Coding & Programming. The curriculum is designed by Samsung’s global R&D experts to make India’s youth industry-ready. Students will undergo both offline and online expert training at a classroom facility. They will also work on innovative projects under the mentorship of experts from SRI-B and GSSS Institute.
Corporate Vice President and Managing Director of SRI-B Mohan Rao Goli said “At Samsung, we believe true innovation comes from inclusivity. We are incredibly proud to inaugurate the Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) at Karnataka’s first women’s engineering college, where bright young minds can explore, experiment, and redefine technology. This initiative aligns with the government’s #DigitalIndia and #MakeInIndia campaigns, empowering students to drive technological progress locally. We are excited to help shape the next generation of women leaders who will create, innovate, and transform the world through technology,”
In 2024, Samsung Southwest Asia expanded SIC to 3,500 students, up from 3,000 in 2023. Samsung’s initiatives, like SIC and SFT, aim to nurture India’s future tech leaders. These programs equip youth with skills for growth and help make India a global tech hub.
“Our partnership with SRI-B provides women with industry-relevant skills, hands-on experience, and exposure to emerging technologies. This initiative bridges the digital skills gap, enhancing employability and innovation. We’re grateful to SRI-B for empowering young women technologists to drive tech advancements,” said Anupama B Pandit, Secretary, GSSS (R), Mysore.
SRI-B has set up Samsung Innovation Campuses (SICs) in seven institutes across Karnataka. These include BNM Institute of Technology, Cambridge Institute of Technology (Main & North Campuses), Don Bosco Institute of Technology, KLE Institute of Technology, RNS Institute of Technology (RNSIT) Bengaluru. One SIC is also established at IIIT-Kurnool. Over 800 students have been trained, equipping them with skills for opportunities in technology.
