SAIL Director, Soma Mondal to Lead the Organization as the Next Chairman

Soma Mondal, the senior executive with 35+ years of experience in the industry has been selected by the Public Enterprises Selection Board as the next chairman of public sector steel major Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has yet to approve her appointment. Provided that Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approves her, she will leave a mark on the world with the uncommon qualification of being the main lady director of SAIL NSE 1.06 percent. She will likewise be the principal lady to head a significant steel organization in India as well as somewhere else in the world.
In the second slot, Anirban Dasgupta SAIL’S Director Production has also been shortlisted by PESB. In September 2018, Soma took over as the Director (Commercial) of Steel Authority of India Limited. Prior of joining SAIL, Soma has also served as the Director (Commercial) at National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), Bhubaneswar. Her service period at NALCO is of 32 years. She completed her graduation from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela in 1984 in Electrical Engineering. She was a Trainee in NALCO and was also involved in various project implementation activities as a part of the Technology Cell. She is appraised for her notable contribution to the Aluminium Industry and in various Industry forums. She has also designed devising marketing strategies for different products in the Domestic & Oversea market. Soma has also been actively involved in the launch of a variety of new products by the company. Under her direction a few fundamental improvement activities were actualized in Marketing and Materials Management capacities at NALCO.
In March 2017, she assumed as the Director (Commercial), as well as the first woman director of SAIL. At that particular time the organization was a gander at a significant jump forward in marketing volumes out of its modernized plants.
