The BRICS Women's Forum will be held in St. Petersburg, Russia, for the first time during the Fourth Eurasian Women's Forum from 18 to 20 September 2024. The forum seeks to advance women's empowerment and gender equality among the BRICS nations. During the Third Eurasian Women's Forum in 2021, female leaders from more than 100 nations, such as politicians, business owners, and public activists, came together. The forum has become well-known on a global scale and has collaborated with organizations like BRICS, APEC, UNIDO, and W20. In 2021, the Third Eurasian Women's Forum featured a presentation on the BRICS Women's Business Alliance.
During a meeting of the organizing committee for the upcoming women's forum, Valentina Matvienko, the Chairwoman of the Council of Federation (FC), made this announcement. She mentioned that Russia is leading the BRICS this year. The forum's concept and organization are crucial for its significance as a significant BRICS event, she said. Valentina also announced "Women for Confidence Building and Global Cooperation" as the event's preliminary theme. The organizers expect a wide representation of nations from the global South and East, she continued.
The Speaker of the Upper House of Parliament stated that the female leaders who will participate around the world in the event will have to share some key points on the theme that has been announced. Valentina said, that to maximize participation, a comprehensive application campaign should be organized, with the most influential speakers invited to the forum.
First Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection, Olga Batalina, announced the start of a major BRICS event in Russia, which will begin with regional industry events a few months prior and asked the Ministry of Labor plans to organize these traditional events in Kazan, Sochi, and Moscow.
