- EBG Group initiated National Women Empowerment Mission, Naari Shakti
- It aims at supporting 1, 00,000 women in its first phase
- EBG has committed USD 1 million for FY 2025–26
EBG Group, a diversified Indian conglomerate, announced on Monday the launch of Naari Shakti, a pan-India women empowerment initiative led by the EBG Foundation.
The Group has pledged USD 1 million for FY 2025–26 towards the phase-one program, which would impact the lives of 1,00,000 women throughout the country.
Launching the programme, EBG also introduced Suraksha Line-a 24x7 national SOS helpline at 7777777963-offering real-time support and guidance for women.
The initiative launched by Hyderabad saw the unveiling of the program and national helpline by Padma Shri awardee and professional badminton player PV Sindhu.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Irfan Khan, Chairman and Founder of EBG Group, said: "Despite decades of progress, many women in India still lack safety, financial independence, healthcare, legal protection, and even basic dignity. Naari Shakti seeks to fill these gaps through direct action."
The program, he said, is fully funded by the EBG Foundation without public donations. He added that the initiative draws inspiration from EBG's own workforce, where women make up more than 60 percent of the employees.
PV Sindhu said, "The initiative strives to help women gain access to income opportunities, education, healthcare, safety services, and legal support for the larger cause of societal progress".
Naari Shakti, therefore, comprises a six-pillar framework Kaam & Kamaai: Work-from-home income opportunities, Sehat & Swachhta: Basic check-up on health, along with dignity kits, Reading & Writing: Second-chance education and digital skills, Suraksha Line: National SOS Helpline 24/7 — 7777777963, Kanoon & Hakk: Representation for rights and safety, Saath & Sahara: Support to abandoned or elder women through Naari Shakti Homes.
This course is open to women of any age and background, although priority must be given to those whose circumstances have proven to be most critical, such as domestic violence survivors, widows, single mothers, abandoned elder women, women without income, and young women who, as a result of early marriage or financial constraints, were not able to continue their education.
The EBG Foundation, with its six-pillar model and commitment to funding, seeks a scaled and sustainable empowerment framework that could be launched across multiple regions in India.
