According to data from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) shared by Bhagwat Karad, minister of state for finance, in a written response to a question in the Rajya Sabha, credit extended by public sector banks (PSBs) to women-led MSMEs during the financial year 2021–22 has increased 45 percent from the pre–Covid level (FY20) and 14.2 percent from FY21. From Rs 5.76 lakh crore in FY20 to Rs 7.31 lakh crore in FY21 and then to Rs 8.36 lakh crore in FY22, the amount grew. Additionally, the amount of loans given to women-owned MSMEs increased by 5.5% from 2.89 crore in FY21 and by 22.6% from 2.49 crore in FY20 to 3.05 crore in FY22.
The overall credit expansion in the MSME sector includes an increase in lending to women-owned and -operated MSME businesses. The total amount of credit given to MSMEs increased by 12.7% from FY21 and by 24.6% from FY20 in FY22, demonstrating that small firms are becoming more credit-hungry and hastening their Covid recovery.
According to information from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), which MSME Minister Narayan Rane provided in the Rajya Sabha in a written response to a question, the amount of credit outstanding to the MSME sector jumped from Rs 16.13 lakh crore granted to 384.18 lakh borrowers to Rs 17.83 lakh billion to 420.19 lakh borrowers in FY21 to Rs 20.11 lakh crore to 264.67 lakh borrowers in FY22.
As of December 12, 2022, in the current fiscal year, women MSMEs made up 20.31% of the businesses listed on the Udyam platform.
According to data presented by state minister for MSME Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, 9.01 lakh of the 44.38 lakh MSMEs registered on the portal were owned by women. On the other side, 9.10 lakh of the 51.55 lakh MSMEs registered on the Udyam platform during FY22 were female MSMEs, making up 17.67% of the total.
In total, 23.01 lakh of the 1.24 crore Udyam units that have been registered since the portal's inception on July 1, 2020, have been led by women entrepreneurs, accounting for an 18.49% stake.a
