President Murmu to Present Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards in Bhubaneswar

Droupadi Murmu, the President of India, will confer the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards 2025 on 27 distinguished individuals in Bhubaneswar on Friday, January 10, 2025, as confirmed by an official government release.
The valedictory session of the three-day 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas celebration will be addressed by Ms. Murmu. She reached the Odisha capital on Thursday.
The Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award will be conferred on several distinguished awardees, including Christine Carla Kangaloo, President of Trinidad & Tobago, for her contributions to public affairs, Baroness Usha Kumari Prashar from the UK for politics, and Dr. Sharmila Ford from the U.S. for her community service efforts. This prestigious award is the highest honor given to overseas Indians.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the convention on Thursday, while the Yuva Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Ustav was held on Wednesday, marking the event's beginning.
According to the detailed itinerary, the President will attend the scheduled program in the afternoon and will return to Delhi afterward to continue her official duties.
On the final day of the mega event, two plenary sessions will be held: 'Diaspora Divas: Celebrating Women's Leadership and Influence – Nari Shakti' and 'Diaspora Dialogues: Stories of Culture, Connection, and Belongingness.'
