President Murmu Highlights Growth & Rural Jobs in Budget Session

- The President's opening remarks during Budget session have highlighted growth, rural job creation, and national security
- The Viksit-Bharat-G RAM G law was announced, which guarantees 125 days employment for people living in rural areas
The Budget session was initiated by Droupadi Murmu with the emphasis on the three key factors of inclusive growth, creating rural jobs, and national security through the introduction of Viksit Bharat-G RAM G legislation
Both parties participated passionately, as there was significant Opposition protest to the introduction of legislation for guaranteeing 125 days of employment for people living in villages through the new scheme.
The President detailed many efforts from around India to meet the goal for self-sufficiency in critical minerals and expand the "Make in India" initiative with the establishment of Dominion Technology and the expected outcome of creating an increasing number of startups
Additionally, the President discussed 10 new semiconductor factories being established and reported the achievement of surpassing ₹1.5 lakh crores in defence production placement contracts.
In relation to influencing young people positively, the President noted approximately 1 million youth and the establishment of 1,000 upgraded ITIs to provide the necessary skills for youth employment now and in the future to increase employment opportunities for youth, and (2) Over 2 crore women have become "Lakhpati sisters".
The primary theme of her address was National Security, framing the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty as one of the Indian government's actions in the fight against terrorism while also announcing the Mission Sudarshan Chakra project to improve defence capabilities.
On the other hand, the highest priority was given to welfare for farmers, stating that record production of food grains and horticultural products was expected to be achieved by 2024-25. The President stated that more than 95 crore Indians are now covered by social security systems, and that there are increasing opportunities within the green economy.
Her speech also provided the foundation for an economic resilience Budget session with a focus on innovation and inclusive development, a competitive debate in Parliament and much activity within Parliament.
