President Murmu addresses Parliament Joint Session ahead of Budget 2025

In order to mark the beginning of Union Budget Session 2025, President Droupadi Murmu addressed Parliament's joint session, emphasizing the government's commitment to youth, education, and women's empowerment. She highlighted India's youth's contributions in startups, sports, and space exploration, and highlighted initiatives like MY Bharat portal, which contributes millions to the nation's development.
The President noted, "Today, our youth is bringing glory to the nation in every field from startups, and sports to space." She emphasized the government's policies for education and its efforts to growth and advancement through the National Education Policy (NEP). She mentioned, "No one should be deprived of education, that is why opportunities for education in the mother tongue are being provided." She highlighted the government's efforts to eliminate language barriers by conducting recruitment exams in thirteen Indian languages making education more accessible.
With a special focus on Indian women's empowerment, President Murmu said "My government believes in empowering the country under the leadership of women." She highlighted India's commitment to women's empowerment, highlighting the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, which grants reservations for women in Lok Sabha and Legislative Assemblies.
The Indian government is also strengthening women's economic standing through initiatives like the National Rural Livelihood Mission, empowering over 91 lakh self-help groups and connecting to 10 crore women. Initiatives like Banking, and Digi Payment Sakhis are empowering rural women financially, Krishi Sakhis promotes sustainable and natural farming practices, while the Drone Didi Scheme, provides women with cutting-edge technology to improve their livelihoods.
