- Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida declared a comprehensive review of the Subhadra Yojana
- The review will bring 1.88 lakh women who have so far been left out of the scheme under its fold
- It is ahead of the third installment of the financial assistance program
In a major move prior to the third phase of Subhadra Yojana, Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida declared a review process to cover 1.88 lakh women who had not been included in the scheme so far.
The review process was inaugurated formally at Bhubaneswar's Sunny Vihar Anganwadi Centre, with the support of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sambalpur and Women & Child Development Department (W&CD). Under this drive, input will be taken from approximately 22,000 women spread across various regions of the state during the coming month. NSS volunteers and other social welfare organizations will assist in data collection.
Deputy CM Parida said, "The third installment will be paid on Raksha Bandhan, and we are doing our best to cover all deserving women." She added that the process of transferring money to left-leaning beneficiaries will be completed shortly. After reviewing the list, the state government will also start taking fresh applications to be included in subsequent rounds of the Subhadra Yojana.
The initiative, which involves offering money to empower women in Odisha, has come under fire after over 1.83 lakh women who were eligible were excluded during the second tranche—leading to a lot of calls for enhancements in the process of implementation.
