UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay invites nominations for the prize that will be awarded annually to two deserving laureates, recognizing their supporting initiatives at empowering girls and women through education and contributing to global positive change. UNESCO invites the stakeholders to promote applications to commemorate International Women's Day, with up to three qualified candidates per country.
The Prize's website provides other details on the nomination process and selection criteria, and the Prize Secretariat can be contacted for questions and support.
Education empowers girls by providing them with knowledge, skills, and confidence, enabling them to make informed decisions about their lives, health, and future. It contributes to economic growth, health, and well-being, challenges, traditional gender roles, reduces child marriage, and empowers them to advocate for their rights and equality. In order to improve the literacy rate of girl children, financial support, infrastructure development, community awareness, combating gender norms, and addressing child marriage risks are essential for girl's education.
