NikhatZareen, LovlinaBorgohainBreeze into Women's National Boxing Championships-22 Finals

Ace boxers LovlinaBorgohain and NikharZareen have moved into the final round of Women’s National Boxing Championships 2022 being held in Bhopal.

Tokyo 2020 bronze medalist Lovlina was representing Assam in the 75kg category. She beat Madhya Pradesh’s Jigyasa Rajput and won by unanimous decision to make the gold medal bout. Lovlina will now be up against 2021 World Youth Champion ArundhatiChoudhary of Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) in the final on Monday.

World champion NikhatZareenwho was representing Telangana secured a comfortably 5-0 win against Shvinder Kaur of All India Police (AIP) in the 50kg semi-final. Nikhat will now face Anamika in the finals.

Lovlinaand Nikhat will be joined in the finals by world championships bronze medallistsManishafrom Haryana in the 57kg category, Simranjit Kaurfrom Punjab in the 60kg and eight boxers from Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB). 

Manisha beat RSPB’s Sonia Lather 4-1 and will face Himachal Pradesh’s Vinakshiin the final. Simranjit Kaur won against AIP’s KrosHmangaihsangi and will facePoonam from RSPB in the finals.

2019 world championships silver medallistManju Rani beat MP’s Anjali Sharma by a 5-0 margin in the 48kg weight category. She will face off with S Kalaivani of Tamil Nadu in the final on Monday. 

2017 World Youth Champion JyotiGuliabeat Uttar Pradesh’s Sonia 4-1 and will be up against SSCB’s Sakshi in the final. 

Anupama (50kg), Shikhsa (54kg), Poonam (60 kg), Shashi (63kg), Anupama (81kg) and Nupur (81+kg) are the other six boxers representing the Railways.
