A book honouring 75 women from various professions, including science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics has been published to commemorate India's 75th anniversary of independence. The Principal Scientific Adviser and British High Commissioner in New Delhi introduced the book about these amazing women who overcame obstacles and rose to the top.

The Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, FICCI FLO, and the British High Commission of India have all contributed to the book "She Is - Women in STEAM," which is not only written but also includes videos of all the achievements that can be viewed using a QR code.

Authors ElsaMarie D'Silva and Supreet K. Singh spoke at the event "In the course of our work in the corporate and development sectors, we have seen patriarchy manifest itself as all-male panels, or "manels," on a range of issues, making decisions that blatantly disregard the contributions and voices of women while having an impact on women both directly and indirectly. We decided to share success stories of women while working to create a world where all genders are treated equally."

This book aims to increase the visibility of women working in STEAM subjects, recognise their substantial accomplishments, and address the gendered obstacles they frequently face along the way. " Women's contributions to India's development and advancement after its independence have sometimes been downplayed and ignored. We want to fix it "stated the authors.

"At this year's Diamond Jubilee celebration for IIT Delhi, the President of India stated that young women in India will play a crucial role in ensuring that India becomes Atmanirbhar. Along these lines, the administration is giving the mainstreaming and institutionalisation of equality and inclusion within the STI ecosystem new life through its different initiatives "said Prof. Ajay Sood, the government's principal scientific adviser.

The fifth science, technology, and innovation policy is one of them.  We all need to reflect on how this policy can be adequately implemented by our institutes so that the young girls and women in science find more equitable opportunities and welcoming spaces to perform," he added, during the unveiling. He applauded the Red Dot Foundation and the British High Commission for their efforts in publishing the She Is book, which features the experiences of women working in various fields around the nation.
