The Indian women’s hockey team in the FIH Pro League has struggled and had lost as many as six games consecutively that pointed out a number of shortcomings. Vice captain Navneet Kaur however insists that the team is willing to work hard and also learn from such loses as they prepare for their last two games again Germany and Great Britain this weekend.

In a media statement which is released by Hockey India, Navneet said the team will ensure that they build on the experience that they have gathered. Against this backdrop, high ranking official hailed the progress the team has made even if it has been against lower ranked teams saying that despite the challenges they have faced, the team displayed improvement especially in two of the tightly contested games with Belgium and Great Britain.

Navneet also noted that today the attention is paid to a study of past results and the determination of the actions that should be taken in future. “Regarding the next two competitors – Germany and Great Britain, the team is concentrating on our previous matches and the overall review of what we have done wrong or right and as we strive to show our performance in terms of hard work, we want to convey a strong message and work harder in the next two matches ahead of us”, she said.

While playing in the European territory of the league, the Indian team suffered a string of poor results, which all started with their huge defeat against Argentina 0-5, and then they lost to Belgium (0-2 and 1-2) followed by another loss to Argentina (0-3) before losing to Germany (1-3) and England (2-3) in that order. This has made the team to pull closer, as Navneet noted. She stated firmly, “The journey so far has been tiring and full of hardships but it united us even more as a team: there are many sleeps in the future; we are ready to work as one, support each other and give the best of ourselves. ”

The Indian team has amassed 8 points from 14 games and are hoping to sign off on a high. Navneet discussed what the team will be doing in their upcoming games as well as how they should continue improving in the future. "What we are doing at the moment is adapting our game to find weaknesses we can exploit to come back stronger in next matches. The most important thing is that we are improving on our weaknesses, exploiting our strengths and making sure that team spirit remains until then end.” What we learned and got from those matches is priceless. We need to use it for making this unity stronger, development of more competitive team and achieving better results, yet she clarified.  ‘This game’ has made her focus also especially on progression of an improvement system into a unity and a consistent formation
