The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), in partnership with Anmol Sahara, has introduced a 21-day Livelihood and Enterprise Development Program (LEDP) for 60 women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) across North Delhi and Outer North Delhi.
Launched on October 12, 2026, the program is being held at two training centers in Azadpur and Tikri. It aims to provide participants with practical skills and business knowledge to support income generation and help them build sustainable livelihoods.
As part of the initiative, participants will learn to make cow dung-based products, candles and festive handicrafts. The training is intended to help them create marketable products and start or expand small businesses.
Key Highlights:
- NABARD and Anmol launched a 21-day livelihood program to train 60 SHG women in Delhi
- Participants will learn product-making, packaging, pricing, digital marketing and sales skills
- The program aims to support women’s financial independence through small businesses and market linkages
The training will also include product-making skills and packaging, pricing, digital marketing and sales skills. The participants will also be provided with support for market linkages, such as with exhibitions and corporate buyers. These measures are designed to assist women in recognizing potential consumers, better presentation of products, and increased sales opportunities.
The program is hoped to raise awareness on self-employment and micro-enterprise opportunities with one of the products being expected to be in greater demand during the festive season. The program aims to provide women with market-oriented support and practical skills to enhance their financial autonomy and livelihoods.
A NABARD official said that the organization was determined to continue its mission of fostering sustainable livelihoods and women's economic empowerment through skill development. The program is designed to impart hands-on skills, business acumen and knowledge of the market to the members of the SHG to enable them to start their own viable business and boost their earning capabilities, the official added.
Anmol Sahara representatives said that the organization would work towards empowering women from SHGs to become economically independent. They also said that with NABARD's assistance, the entrepreneurs in the villages of Azadpur and Tikri will be able to learn and explore the livelihood opportunities that are sustainable.
NABARD has been promoting livelihood promotion activities, skill development and creation of enterprise as part of its endeavor to make the Self Help Group movement strong and promote inclusive development. The institution is working towards the development of income generating activities and establishment of women based enterprises through the programs like LEDP and others with the members of SHG.
The program is also aimed at solving the problems of small entrepreneurs in developing market access and the ability to transform production skills into productive enterprises. The purpose of training on pricing, packaging and marketing is to enable the participants to appreciate the business dimension of operating a micro-enterprise.
The program seeks to push for grassroot entrepreneurship among women in Delhi by combining skill development and linkages to the market. The 21-day campaign will give them a chance to learn new skills, evaluate their business opportunities, and consider how to make their products a regular income.
